Marius Lulea, Vice President of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), issued a firm statement following reports that the Trump administration is considering removing Romania from the Visa Waiver Program due to the cancellation of the 2024 presidential elections and the illegal banning of certain candidates.
“The Trump administration has every right to respond to the abuses committed by the corrupt regime in Bucharest. But let’s be clear: the Romanian people must not be punished for the coup carried out by Ciolacu, Iohannis, and their accomplices. Sanctions must be directed at those who dismantled democracy, not at innocent citizens,” said Marius Lulea.
He emphasized that the Romanian people are once again victims of a government that fears free and fair elections. “They stole the vote. Now they want to isolate us from the free world. It is profoundly unjust,” Lulea stated.
“I call on the American administration to support the Romanian people in their fight for liberty and democracy. The ones who must be held accountable are the political usurpers in Bucharest, not the hardworking, freedom-loving citizens of Romania,” concluded Marius Lulea.
